These reports sit under Sales on the Reports hub. They read invoices and customer payments, not posted journals. Free and Starter lock this group; Beta includes it. How the hub and PDF/Excel work is Open reports. For income on the books, use Financial statements.
Same hub path for every report on this page. See Open reports.

You need invoices or payments already saved. How to bill and collect is Create and send an invoice and Record a customer payment.
Date range defaults to This Month (invoice date). Location is optional and uses the invoice location. Columns: date, invoice number, customer, location, subtotal, discount, tax, total.
This list is every invoice in the date range — including drafts. Cancelled and voided invoices are not filtered out here the way they are on Sales by Customer. Use it as a document register, not as posted revenue.
Both use an as-of date (cumulative through that date), not a from–to range. Location is optional on the invoice. Draft, cancelled, and voided invoices are excluded.
What each total is
| Report | Each row |
|---|---|
| Sales by Customer | Customer, number of invoices, sum of invoice totals, last invoice date |
| Sales by Product | Product code and name, quantity sold, sum of line totals, last invoice date. Lines without a product show as Unassigned |
These totals are invoiced amounts, not cash received and not P&L. A customer can be top of this list and still have a large A/R balance.
Date range is payment date. Optional customer filter. Only posted payments. Columns: date, payment number, customer, method, reference, amount.
This is the payment register. It does not create or prove a cash journal — customer payments still do not auto-journal. If you need the receipt on the books, enter a Receipt Journal; see Record a customer payment.
As of date and optional customer. There is no location filter. The floating control switches summary (by customer — the default) and detailed (by invoice).
A row appears when the invoice date is on or before the as-of date and remaining balance is greater than zero. Aging buckets use days past due date: Current (not yet due), 1–30, 31–60, 61–90, over 90. This is invoice balances, not the AR account on the ledger.
How to use the two views
| View | Use it to |
|---|---|
| Summary (by customer) | See who owes you, split into buckets |
| Detailed (by invoice) | See invoice number, invoice date, due date, original total, and which bucket the balance sits in |
Paid invoices drop off when balance is zero. A draft that still has a balance can still appear — this report does not require finalized status the way Sales by Customer does.
Sales Report can include drafts; P&L cannot. Cash invoices can show here with no income journal. A Receipt Journal you typed can hit cash on P&L/ledger with no row here. Location on these reports is the invoice; location on P&L is the journal.
